BRAM BOGART

Bram Bogart’s (1921-2012) art is a celebration of color and material. Emerging in the 1960s, his thick, textured paintings reject narrative and psychological ambiguity, focusing purely on the physicality of paint. His fusion of gesture and matter creates a sensual, self-referential presence. Anticipating later trends, Bogart broke from abstract expressionism’s emotional depth, reducing painting to its essence—color and substance. His work reaches a point where painting is no longer a representation but an object in itself, embodying pure, tactile sensuality. (source:Pierre Restany)
