ANTONI TÀPIES

Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012) began painting during a long illness, eventually abandoning university to focus on art. By the 1940s, he was exhibiting work that set him apart. In 1948, he co-founded Dau al Set, influenced by Miró and Klee, and explored iconographic and mystical themes. Over time, he incorporated geometric elements and color studies, leading to his signature heavily textured canvases, which offered deep expressive and communicative power. His innovative approach made him a key figure in contemporary art.
